Club results from weekend of 9-10 April.   11/04/2016

Last Saturday morning, the junior men’s side kept their promotion hopes alive with a 2-1 away win over Cregmore Claregalway FC. Craughwell went in front during the opening half through striker Cole Connolly but the home side came back with a second half equaliser. However, United midfielder Cathal Greaney popped up with a crucial goal for the second week running which turned out to be the match winner. Craughwell are in second place in Division 4 with one game remaining and will be hoping that the other three sides in promotion contention take points off each other in the final few games.

Also on Saturday the U15 boys completed their league campaign with a 3-1 defeat away to Mervue United B with Darragh O Connor continuing his great scoring form when finishing a Vince Boyle cross while the U13 boys lost 2-0 away to Colga in their Premier Cup quarter final.

On Sunday, the U18 boys (pictured) won their second Premier League game in succession with an excellent 1-0 win over Knocknacarra in Cappagh Park. Craughwell defended well against a strong breeze to keep the home side scoreless in the first half. United then went looking for the breakthrough after the break and it came when Mark Cunningham swung in a wicked curling free kick on the wind. The Knocknacarra keeper did well to block it down initially from under his crossbar but Craughwell midfielder Eoin Fahy reacted quickest to slot home the winning goal.
