Club results from weekend of 15-16 October   19/10/2016

The Junior men’s side suffered their first league defeat of the season with a 4-3 loss at home to Dynamo Blues B last Saturday afternoon. Craughwell struggled against the physically stronger Tuam side early on and when they went two goals down and a man down shortly after the break, the match seemed over. However, spurred on by their two year unbeaten home record, United hauled themselves back with goals from brothers Benny and Shaun Gallagher to level the match at 2-2. Craughwell striker Mike Madden scored from the penalty spot to put United in front but when Shaun Gallagher and Madden both missed golden chances to extend the lead it was to prove costly. Blues scored two late goals to steal an unlikely win and thus keep their own unbeaten league run intact this season. Unlucky for United, but an entertaining game nonetheless.

Also on Saturday, the U14 boys lost 5-0 away to a strong Salthill Devon outfit while the U13A boys went down narrowly 2-1 away to Athenry with Kieran O Connor setting up Darragh McCartin to score. The U12A boys were defeated 3-2 away to Tuam Celtic with Fiachra Bond and Finn McCartney on the scoresheet while the U12B boys (pictured) lost 3-0 at home to Knocknacarra B. Elsewhere, the U12C boys continued their good form with a 5-0 away win over Corrib Celtic C. In a tight first half, Craughwell did well to be two nil up at the break, but the team pushed home their dominance with three further second half goals. United scorers were Eoghan Tierney, Shane Murray, Cormac McFadden with two and an own goal from the home side. Impressive performances from midfield general Conor Gilligan with Jamie Collins orchestrating a lot of forward play. Defence was well marshalled by Rian Comer, Lucas Keane and Cormac Regan.

On Sunday, the U16 boys had a fine away win over Moyne Villa in Headford. Ciaran Connaughton and Vince Boyle scored goals which were both assisted by Ian McGlynn. United keeper Michael Joyce played his first game back from injury and put in a man of the match performance.
