Craughwell United Notes 10/11/12 February   13/02/2023

Craughwell United Juniors hosted Corrib Rangers in an entertaining tie in the Western Hygiene Supplies Championship at Coleman Park on Sunday morning. United took the lead on 25 minutes with a Joe Jackson header from a Kevin Molloy corner. Having then conceded twice, United went ahead again before the break - Joe Jackson first assisting Eoin Fahy and then netting a long range effort himself. The home side failed to push on in the second half, conceding twice - Corrib Rangers taking all three points on a 2-3 scoreline. A special mention to Joe Jackson who is in a rich vein of form and has been our best player in recent games.

On Friday night the U21s hosted Corrib Celtic at Maree Astro. Eoin Shiel finished from an Liam Mulveen cross and Odhran Kean finished well to the bottom left corner leaving Craughwell two goals to the good at the break. Corrib Celtic were very competitive throughout and deserved their goal early in the second half but United held on well to record their fifth straight win.

In Cup action on Sunday afternoon the U17 girls travelled to play a very strong Athenry Premier League side. Athenry scored four quality goals during a strong first half from them. The Craughwell girls didn't let their heads drop - they regrouped and put in a strong second half display led by Alannah Farrell, Keelin McNamara and Sara Craven to leave the final scoreline unchanged at 4-0.

The U13A Boys game didn't play this weekend but the U13B Boys travelled to Cappagh park to face Knocknacarra D. The match was scoreless at half-time but a change in formation saw United gain the upper hand in the second half. Oren Fahy broke the deadlock and soon after James Niland also rattled the net. Ross Beattie finished the day’s work with a brace, giving United a 0-4 win.

United's U13 Girls Craughwell hosted Colemanstown on Sunday lunchtime. Having found themselves a goal behind an Isabelle Behan brace gave United a 2-1 lead. However, Colemanstown did equalize. The referee gave "woman of the match" to Beth Dillion who played out of her skin in defence. That combined with strong performances all over the pitch for Craughwell saw them come away with a hard-earned point.
