Club results from weekend of 9-10 January.   12/01/2016

The Galway FA league programme returned to relative normality after the Christmas break with several teams in action. The Junior men’s side missed the opportunity to extend their lead at the top of Division 4 when Kinvara United B held them to a 2-2 draw in Kinvara. Cathal Greaney scored both goals, one penalty and one free kick. The U18 boys played very well for long periods before eventually going down 4-1 away to Mervue United in their Premier League clash. Cole Connolly (pictured) scored the Craughwell goal in the first half with a spectacular long range free kick.

The U14 boys went down 3-1 away to Cregmore/Claregalway FC with Ciaran Connaughton scoring for United while the U12B boys were involved in an entertaining 4-4 draw at home to West Coast United. Craughwell took the lead through Shane Tuohy but the Connemara side hit back with two goals (the referee not appearing to play the offside rule). Eoin Nugent then made two vital saves, keeping the home side in the game before Niall Dolan levelled the match at 2-2. West Coast got a third just before break to make it 3-2 at half time.

The second half continued in the same fashion with both sides having chances before West Coast scored to take a 4-2 lead. With every Craughwell players showing great character, they rallied and got a third through another Tuohy goal. Craughwell pressed until the very end and got a deserved equaliser through a fantastic Cian Irwin strike from outside the box into the bottom right corner. The Craughwell team were a credit to the club, as they never dropped their heads and worked extremely hard against a very strong West Coast United team.
