Craughwell United Notes 3-4 December   05/12/2022

Craughwell United U21s hosted St. Patricks on Sunday in a lunchtime fixture at Coleman Park. Craughwell made a good start in difficult conditions - Kevin Molloy bagging a first half hat-trick. Amazingly United missed three penalties in the second half before getting back in the groove with goals from Matthey Faherty and Alex Craven. 5-0 the final scoreline.

Back row - Aidan Collins, Eoin Nugent, Cian Irwin, Ross Whelton, Noah Keane, Odhran Keane, Liam Mulveen, Cian Geoghegan, Mark Faherty.
Front row - Eoin Shiels, Kevin Molloy, Matthew Faherty, Dara Collins, Alex Craven, Finbarr McFadden.

The U17 girls lost 1-0 in a keenly contested match in Oughterard on Sunday afternoon. The home side were awarded an early penalty which Craughwell keeper Claire Coolahan almost saved but the ball just squeezed over the line. United defended very well for the remainder of the half with the back line well marshalled by Alannah Farrell and Ayla Hollingworth.

The second half saw both sides battle hard in midfield to make few chances and with the game entering the dying minutes Chloe Keane put a well hit volley just over the crossbar.

Millie Hussey and Sara Craven also created good moments throughout the game but the Craughwell girls just came up short of finding the equaliser.

Congratulations and well done to Isabelle Behan, captain of Galway League U12 girls who played Carlow on Sunday. The Galway girls were unlucky in a rainy and cold Carlow, narrowly losing 1-0, with Isabelle hitting the crossbar. A great day and a great honour for both Isabelle and the Club, well done Isabelle.
