Club results from weekend of 4-6 April   07/04/2015

The U13 boys were too strong for Maree/Oranmore in their Premier league match last Saturday afternoon. The home side were six up at the break with goals coming from Sean Connaughton (2), Alex Evans (2), Kevin Molloy and Jack Walsh. Oranmore pulled one back in the second half but further goals from Alex Boyle and Finbarr McFadden left the final score at 8-1 to Craughwell.

The eagerly anticipated U15 GFA Cup quarter final between Craughwell and Premier League leaders Mervue United didn’t disappoint with a cracking game in Coleman Park on Saturday. Craughwell started brightly when Adrian Prendergast's shot was deflected wide off the post. Mervue always looked dangerous on the break but with Adam Clarke (pictured) commanding the home defence, there was no breakthrough by half time. The second half saw both sides probing for the opening goal and it was Mervue who got it on the hour mark. Two late goals from Mervue striker Aaron Connolly left the final 3-0 scoreline harsh on Craughwell who had outstanding performers in Clarke, Cormac Dooley and Ben Creaven.

Also on Saturday, the U11 boys ran out 6-2 winners over Galway Hibs in the second round of the Kevin Power Cup.

On Sunday, the U18A boys played their re-arranged GFA Cup tie away to Mervue United. Craughwell took the lead through Dara Cunney and despite hitting the woodwork numerous times they could not find another goal. Mervue rallied and were able to score five unanswered goals, leaving Craughwell to rue all their missed chances.

On Monday, Mervue completed the Easter treble over Craughwell when their U14B team were 4-1 winners over our U14 boys. Euan Walsh scored the Craughwell goal.
