Club results from weekend of 31 Oct - 1 Nov 2015.   02/11/2015

It was a case of three wins and three defeats for club teams on a beautiful weather weekend for football.

The U12A boys ran out 4-0 winners over Colga last Saturday morning with the goals scored by Adam Stewart (2), Kieran O Connor and Darragh McCartin. The U12B side were unlucky to lose 2-1 at home to Corofin with Shane Tuohy scoring for United from the penalty spot. Also on Saturday, the U14 boys lost 4-2 to Tuam Celtic in their Premier League encounter. The home side dominated the first half hitting the post and forcing the Celtic keeper into numerous saves but it was the away side that went ahead with their first shot on goal and then added a second just before the break. In the second half, Craughwell pulled one back through Ryan Gallagher and when the home side were awarded a penalty soon after, Gallagher took his chance well again to square the match at 2-2. Craughwell kept up the pressure looking for the winner but it was Celtic who got the next two goals on the counter attack, leaving Craughwell with no reward for their excellent display.

On Sunday, the U18 boys lost 7-3 at home to Knocknacarra in their Premier League clash. Craughwell were 4-0 down at half time but responded well in the second half with a penalty from Malachai MacCormaic and two expertly taken free kicks from the boot of Cole Connolly.

The U18 girls were in better luck with a 2-1 home win over Maree/Oranmore in an evenly contested match. Craughwell took the lead in the second half with a clever near post finish from striker Ciana Reidy (pictured) before Maree/Oranmore striker Ciara Fogarty equalised after some sustained pressure from the away side. Craughwell then missed several chances in quick succession to take the lead and only for two great saves from United keeper Siobhan Creaven, the home side could well have gone behind. Finally though, it was Reidy who scored again for Craughwell to nick the win with the last attack of the game.

Also on Sunday, the Junior Mens side received a walkover from Kilmore FC, Belmullet in their Connacht Junior Cup first round tie.
