Club results from weekend of 13-14 February.   15/02/2016

Last Saturday, the U15 boys lost 3-1 to Galway Hibs in Crestwood while the Junior Men’s home fixture against Kilshanvey United was postponed due to poor weather conditions. On Sunday, the U17 boys had an excellent 2-1 away win over Maree/Oranmore FC in their Premier League encounter. Diarmaid McCartin (pictured) put United ahead with a ‘Jamie Vardy like’ half volley from thirty yards out which caught the home keeper off his line. Maree/Oranmore equalised from a free kick early in the second half but Jack Lally put United in front again from another direct free kick. The home side increased the pressure and were rewarded with a penalty but stand in keeper Alan Callanan dived to his left and saved well to keep United in the lead. Craughwell defended bravely until the final whistle to clinch the three points.

Earlier in Oranmore, the U10 girls played two very tough games in the Invitational League. Craughwell lost the first game to the only goal but a great fight back in the second match with two goals from Keelan McNamara earned them a deserved 2-2 draw. Great performances from everybody on a cold windy day.

Best of luck to U11 player Daire Crowe after being selected on the Galway U11 Assessment Panel. Jamie Lyons and Fiachra Bond are on the standby list after good performances in the trial sessions.

Well done to Eamon Ryan for winning €100 from last weekend's 50-50 Draw in Cheevers. Next draw takes place in Rafterys this Saturday night 20 February with â‚¬2 blue envelopes always on sale in Jodys, Cawleys, Cheevers and Rafterys.
